KIN-SHIP

This is my attempt at making a game in 48 hours for the 2021 GMTK Game Jam where the theme is "Joined Together".

CONTROLS:

• Mouse: Aim
• Left Mouse Button: Fire
• Space (Hold): Move ship in the mouse’s direction
• W/A/S/D: Change group formation:
• W: Wing formation (Equal number of ships on left/right sides)
• A: Avian formation (Have all ships follow behind you in a V-pattern)
• S: Snake formation (Trail all ships behind you in a single-file line)
• D: Defensive formation (Surround yourself with all ships)
• E: Eject mode (Press 1/2/3/4 to eject a ship in the respective position and drop its power)
• Q: Quit eject mode
• R: Retry on Game Over
• Escape: Quit game

ALLY SHIP TYPES:

• Speed Ship: Increases main ship speed.
• Rapid Ship: Increases firing rate.
• Magnify Ship: Increases shot size.
• Score Ship: Increases your point multiplier by one.
• Shield Ship: Can resist one hit itself or stays with the main ship once if it is hit, but makes you slower (gets destroyed if ejected after initial hit).
• Reflector Ship: Can absorb one enemy projectile while the main ship is firing, then fires it when the main ship stops firing.
• Copycat Ship: Fires on its own when you fire.
• Bomb Ship: Eject or let it get hit to trigger an explosion that destroys enemies (does not blow up if the main ship gets hit, cannot retrieve if manually ejected).
• Parasite Ship: Eats one of your lives if you let it stay attached for ten seconds (will chase the player, can be destroyed without penalty, cannot be ejected manually, must let it or the main ship take a hit).
• Life Ship: Gives you an extra life if you protect it for ten seconds (destroyed if lost or ejected).
