Watch the ledge, Draelyn!
It's been a few weeks, but I'm back to working on this project! The layout of the next level is far from finished, but just know that it will be focused on introducing the main enemy type Magli Draelyn will be dealing with throughout the game. In the meantime however, I just wanted to share a few little quality of life additions that will be added once the next level's demo comes out.
The first addition is in Draelyn's Fire Tackle. During its endlag, Draelyn will no longer fall off any ledges. For a move that is unaffected by gravity for the majority of its duration, it helps to add a fail-safe against any unwanted plummeting caused by the move's residual velocity.
The other addition is also Draelyn related, and that involves her wall vaulting. While vaulting is a great way to continue gaining speed while in the air, it does not work well in narrow corridors. Draelyn loses a significant amount of flow and momentum when climbing narrow stair passages or up to a two-tile-high passageway both with and without an overhang. That is why I will provide the option to skip the vaulting step entirely by holding Left Shift or Right Trigger before Draelyn scales a wall. This will snap Draelyn to the ledge while converting her vertical climbing momentum into horizontal walking momentum.
